I think it's great, and yes more states should adopt it. Nothing sicker than putting anyone's private stuff out there, no matter how bitter the break-up was.
And not just revenge porn. Any situation where someone is filmed seemingly in confidence and said film is put out for all the public to see. If all parties don't consent to it, then it shouldn't be out there. And if it does come out somehow, there should be consequences...and not just the consequences the victims suffer.

California is passing a law, that makes it a offense to post revenge pictures of your ex on porn sites etc. First offense is 6 months in prison and repeat offenders face up to a year. Me, personally, think that the punishment for this should be more severe, but it is a good start. What are you thoughts on this, and should more states adopt it?

Folks, ANY consenting adult SHOULD reasonably know better than to LEAVE photos or video of them doing ANYTHING they wouldn't want the world to see in the hands of a "former" lover. Sorry, but I have neither sympathy nor pity for the terminally stupid.

I've watched young men DIE because they made foolish mistakes. Pardon me if I'm not all weepy eyed because someone got stupid and left something behind they should REASONABLY have known NOT TOO!

Who was "weepy eyed"? Who was whining about the poor "victims". The ONLY thing they were victims OF was their own stupidity. So, lock up the person they idiotically left with photos or videos they SHOULD have known better than to leave behind and then pissed off that person off by screwing around on them or screwing them over in some way. Not army. no high horse. But SPEAKING of high horses; why don't you climb down from yours and EXPECT adults to BE adults and use their heads? Oh, that's just asking WAAY too much isn't it? Better to WHINE about the "innocent victim". And, btw; IF you don't LIKE the way I post, the solution is VERY simple, DON'T READ THEM! Actions have consequences; ADULTS realize that; there enough over grown juveniles in this country now!

Well, I can see a couple of internet tough guys decided to jump on the moral bandwagon on a sex story site to do their best John Wayne impersonations; damn I'm impressed. Oh, and PLEASE feel free to tell me the entire list of all of the things that "a REAL MAN" would and would never do. That should be good for as big a laugh as the original list got! Anyone have any queish?

It's a great idea in concept but it will be a major drain on the courts and legal system and public defenders because it's just so prolific a practice... all those myex.com sites and blunders... it's endless. Jails are already jammed in many places, I really don't know if they have the resources to start tossing in the evil exes. Don't a lot of people and celebs get jail-time massively reduced because the jails are at max capacity? I'm sure I remember Lohan and Paris serving only a day to a week and then being released because there was no jail-space for small-time offenders. A lot of cases will be difficult to prove as well because there are so many variables that come into play. I think they should go after those that post pics of minors etc and then consider hefty fines for other cases or small-claims court if the victim wants to go after the person that posted the pics. I'm not sure jail-time is feasible given the demands on the justice system in a lot of areas.

If Person A takes pics of his junk and gives it to Person B, then it becomes property of Person B and Person B can do with it whatever he wants.

No it doesn't and no he can't unless given express permission by the content creator. Much like buying a DVD doesn't give me the right to share it online.
Quote by lafayettemister
A DVD is protected under copyright law, dick pics aren't. If guy takes a pic of his topless girlfriend, that's his pic, his property.
I also don't think a person convicted of this should have to register as a sex offender. Imagine some 17-18 year old kid, getting his heart broken, angrily posts topless pics of his ex online. A lifetime of not being able to get a job, labelled in the same category as violent rapers.. too harsh a penalty.

Copyright laws protect everyone. If you created something - even if it's just a picture of your meat and two veg - you have copyright of that image and you're able to enforce that image's usage (according to copyright law). You don't have to put the little (c) sign on it, you don't have to include terms and conditions. If you created it - you own it.
The person is carrying out a sexually motivated attack on someone - that sounds like a sexual offence to me.
