I'm awakened to the sound of thunder.

Startled, I reach for you, though I'm reminded you're no longer here.

I sit up and allow my mind to wonder and ponder.

How could I let you go? The rain falls as do my tears.

I hold myself as I peer outside into the cloudy skies.

My skin yearns for your warm touch, your embrace.

To feel you, my love, would always calm the storms inside that cause me to cry.

To kiss you just once more, to return to our own familiar, safe place.

I must let you go; to think of it breaks my heart even more.

You, who I have known for so long.

So many memories I have of us placed in my heart, safely stored.
